Yesterday the Associated Press announced their 2023 NFL All-Pro Teams. Just as with the Pro Bowl selections, the New England Patriots were left off the roster altogether. Brenden Schooler finished third among special teams players, receiving six first-team votes. Linebacker Jahlani Tavai was the only other Patriots player to receive a first-team vote. New England players receiving second-team votes included DT Christian Barmore, S Jabrill Peppers, P Bryce Baringer, and KR Jalen Reagor.

Somewhat lost in the coaching news in New England this week was the announcement of the 2023 Patriots winner of the Ed Block Courage Award. This year the team named co-recipients, center David Andrews and cornerback Jonathan Jones. Both players have been honored this season already for their work away from the field. Andrews was the recipient of the Ron Hobson Good Guy Award, presented by the Patriots media. Jones was the winner of the Ron Burton Community Service Award, and is New England’s nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award.

The Ed Block Courage Award is given annually to a player (or players) from each NFL franchise as voted by their teammates. The award is given to players who are role models of inspiration, sportsmanship and courage. Congratulations to both of this season’s New England Patriots recipients.

Fun Fact of the Day

Today New England Patriots DT Daniel Ekuale turns 30. He is one of 41 players in NFL history born in American Samoa. However, he is not the first Patriot. That honor belongs to Mosi Tatupu, who played 201 games for the Patriots from 1978-to-1991.
