The New England Patriots had no players voted into this year’s Pro Bowl. However, yesterday Patriots special teams ace Brendan Schooler received a nice honor from his peers. The NFLPA voted their own All-Pro Team for the second year, and Schooler made the cut. He was named one of two “core special teams players” along with Jalen Reeves-Maybin of the Detroit Lions. The honor is voted on by the NFL players. Schooler tied for the NFL lead in special teams tackles with 13, and had a blocked field goal as well.

Trent Brown Critical of Patriots (Again)

Offensive tackle Trent Brown continues to be critical of the New England Patriots on his way out of town. The free agent had more negative things to say about the way the franchise was run while talking to NESN’s Dakota Randall.

“If you pay Ted Karras, if you don’t trade Shaq Mason, that solves an issue. I don’t think it was necessary for those moves to be made. And then to not really replace them with guys of their caliber.”

Not sure Cole Strange, who lined up next to Brown for the past two seasons, would be particularly appreciative of those remarks.

Brown also made a remark about the New England Patriots trying to attract free agents. He stated, “The incentive to come play with Tom (Brady) no longer exists.” Needless to say, Trent Brown is likely be signing elsewhere this offseason.

Fun Fact of the Day

Mike Vrabel played for the New England Patriots from 2001-to-2008. During that time, including playoffs, he finished top 20 in the NFL in both tackles (690) and sacks (56.0). No other NFL player was top 20 in both categories during that stretch.
