Patriots Daily: Some Positive Injury Updates for Patriots-49ers

Published

on

New England Patriots linebacker Anfernee Jennings

The New England Patriots’ list of injuries remained plentiful on Thursday, with 11 players either limited participants or DNP (did not participate) in practice. Fortunately, it was not all negative news for New England. Linebacker Anfernee Jennings was upgraded from DNP to a limited participant. And center David Andrews, who had been limited for rest purposes Wednesday, was removed from the report.

Jennings’ availability for Sunday is crucial for New England. The Patriots are already shorthanded on the edge with Oshane Ximines on injured reserve. And with Ja’Whaun Bentley also on IR, Jahlani Tavai is needed in the middle instead of shifting outside. Setting the edge against San Francisco, a specialty of Anfernee Jennings, is crucial to slowing down the 49ers’ potent offense.

There was no similar good news for the other three DNPs from Wednesday. OT Vederian Lowe, OG Michael Jordan, and CB Alex Austin remained out of action yesterday.

In addition to Jennings, there were seven other Patriots limited on Thursday. This group consisted of TE Hunter Henry, OT Caedan Wallace, OL Mike Onwenu, OG Sidy Sow, CB Christian Gonzalez, CB Jonathan Jones, and S Jabrill Peppers.

The game status for these players will be announced later today. Needless to say, New England can’t afford to miss too many players with an uphill battle in San Francisco.

San Francisco Injury Update

The 49ers listed only two DNPs on Thursday: DT Javon Hargrave (knee) and WR Jacob Cowing (illness). The big news for San Francisco was who was not on the report. Three of San Francisco’s star players were out on Wednesday but returned on Thursday.

OT Trent Williams was dealing with an illness but returned to full participation Thursday. WR Deebo Samuel Sr. and TE George Kittle were limited participants, though both are trending toward playing on Sunday.
