Patriots Daily: Four DNPs on Wednesday, One Return to Practice

Published

on

New England Patriots offensive tackle Vederian Lowe

The New England Patriots practice participation list included 12 players on Wednesday. Fortunately, two players listed were full participants: OL Mike Onwenu (wrist) and S Jabill Peppers (ankle). C David Andrews was listed as limited due to rest. However, that still left nine Patriots with injuries, including four who did not participate on Wednesday.

One piece of good news for New England on the injury front was the return of OG Sidy Sow. He was a limited participant but had been out since injuring his ankle in the preseason finale.

Not participating in practice were  OT Vederian Lowe (knee), OG Michael Jordan (ankle), LB Anfernee Jennings (shoulder), and CB Alex Austin (ankle).

Impact of Injuries

Lowe missed Week 3 for New England. Caedan Wallace at left tackle but struggled in the game and injured his knee. He was a limited participant on Wednesday. If Lowe and Wallace are unavailable, Demontrey Jacobs, who played the final 14 offensive snaps Thursday, will likely start at left tackle.

Jordan started at left guard against the Jets but was injured in the game. Zach Thomas replaced him. If Sow is available, he will likely start, regardless of Jordan’s availability. Thomas gets the nod if Jordan and Sow are both out.

Jennings would be a huge loss for the Patriots if he remains out. New England is thin at linebacker/edge following the trade of Matthew Judon and injuries to Oshane Ximines and Ja’Whaun Bentley.

Alex Austin played only 14 snaps against the Jets. Marco Wilson was inactive for Week 3 after playing the first two weeks. Wilson replacing Austin on the active roster on Sunday would be the most likely scenario.

Aside from Andrews, Sow, and Wallace, three others were limited participants on Wednesday: TE Hunter Henry, CB Christian Gonzalez (shoulder), and CB Jonathan Jones. Hopefully, everyone will heal up quickly.
