Patriots Daily: Two Out for New England; QB Prospects Impress

Published

on

New England Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte

The New England Patriots ruled two wide receivers out for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Wide receivers Demario Douglas and Kayshon Boutte will both be out of action.

Douglas suffered a head injury in last weekend’s game against the New York Giants. He was clotheslined by Cam Brown of the New York Giants on a punt return. Although the play was not penalized, Douglas left the game and did not return. He has not participated in practice this past week, while in concussion protocol.

Boutte was limited in practice on Wednesday with a shoulder injury. He has not been a participant since, due to shoulder/illness.

It is likely WR Jalen Reagor gets elevated from the practice squad. Reagor also might handle punt returning responsibilities with Douglas sidelined.

New England listed six players as questionable:

ST Chris Board (back)
OT Trent Brown (ankle/chest)
RB Ezekiel Elliott (chest)
OL Riley Reiff (knee)
OG Sidy Sow (ankle)
DE Deatrich Wise (shoulder)

Meanwhile, the Pac-12 Championship Game took place on Friday night. Both quarterbacks in the game are projected to go high in the 2024 NFL Draft, and both were impressive. Oregon’s Bo Nix finished 21-of-34 for 239 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. He also picked up 69 yards rushing. Washington’s Michael Penix, Jr. completed 27-of-39 passes for 319 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Penix was named the Championship MVP after Washington prevailed 34-31.
