Patriots Daily: Trent Brown Out; Up to Fourth in 2024 NFL Draft
As the New England Patriots prepared to fly to Frankfurt for yesterday, there were three players ruled out for Sunday’s game. OT Trent Brown, CB J.C. Jackson and WR DeVante Parker are all out. Jackson’s absence is due to issues detailed here on Wednesday. DeVante Parker is still in concussion protocol. Although he made some progress this past week, it was not enough to be activated for the game against the Colts. With a bye week coming, using caution makes sense with a head injury anyway.
Trent Brown’s situation is a little more interesting. Last week he was ruled out vs. Washington with ankle and knee injuries. This week he was not a participant in practice. The official report stated the reason as “Not Injury Related (Personal) / Ankle.” The Patriots obviously would like to get their starting left tackle healed up from his injury ASAP. Conor McDermott is likely to start in his place for the second consecutive week. And here’s hoping whatever personal issues are keeping him away are cleared up as well. Obviously, would not want to speculate there.
Of note for the New England Patriots last night was the result of Thursday Night Football. The Chicago Bears beat the Carolina Panthers 16-13. The Bears win moved them to 3-7 on the season, which moves them ahead of the Patriots in the overall standings. This means New England’s 2024 NFL Draft position, as of today, just improved from fifth to fourth.
