Patriots Daily: Belichick Relaxed in Germany; Nine Questionable
New England Patriots are in Frankfurt, Germany preparing for their game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. On Friday, the media got to question some players and the head coaches from each team. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick appeared particularly relaxed as he answered questions. If the NFL was attempting to spread international joy, who would have guessed Bill Belichick would be a model brand ambassador?
Belichick said it was good to be in Frankfurt and it was a beautiful facility. He sounded enthusiastic to discuss former Patriots from Germany, Sebastian Vollmer, Jakob Johnson, and Markus Kuhn. Was happy there was a big contingent of Patriots fans in Germany and said he hoped he gave them plenty to cheer about on Sunday. He joked about how long he’s been coaching (“unfortunately, it’s been more than 20” years) and said coaching, “beats working. I enjoy it.”
Even a German reporter said, “in my 23 years I’ve been a Patriots fan, I’ve never seen you laugh so much. I think Germany’s good for you.” He then asked, “How are you enjoying Germany?”
The comment got a chuckle from Belichick, who responded, “Love visiting Germany.” He added, “People are great.”
Considering how poorly the year has gone, it was a nice change to see Belichick being so affable.
On the game preparation side of things, nine Patriots have been ruled questionable for Sunday: DT Christian Barmore (knee), LB Ja’Whaun Bentley (hamstring), DB Myles Bryant (chest), WR Demario Douglas (ankle), CB Jack Jones (knee), CB Jonathan Jones (knee), OT Vederian Lowe (ankle), ST Matthew Slater (ankle), and DE Deatrich Wise (shoulder), Center David Andrews missed practice due to “rest” but it does not appear his availability is affected.
