Former Patriots Players and Coach in Super Bowl 58

While the New England England Patriots are not participating in Super Bowl 58 they will still be represented. The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers each have two former Patriots employees looking to win a ring on Super Bowl Sunday. If New England fans are looking for this to determine their rooting interest in the game, unfortunately, the score is tied at two each.

A look at the former New England Patriots players and coaches with a chance to lift the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl 58.

Brendan Daly, Chiefs Linebackers Coach

Daly coached on the New England Patriots staff for five seasons. He was both a defensive assistant (2014) and the defensive line coach (2015-2018). Daly has been in Kansas City for the past five seasons, moving from defensive line to linebackers the past two years.

In the past ten seasons, Brendan Daly has coached in eight Super Bowls, winning five. He has an opportunity to win his sixth championship in Super Bowl 58.

Terrance Mitchell, 49ers Cornerback

Mitchell never played a game for New England. He signed with the Patriots before the 2022 season and for a while was a projected starter. However, Michell did not make the final roster. New England signed him back to the practice squad, but the Tennessee Titans signed him less than two weeks later.

Terrance Mitchell signed with San Francisco following the 2022 season but was placed on season-ending IR. Mitchell reached an injury settlement with the 49ers. He signed back with the team on Jan. 10, 2024, but has yet to appear in a game for them.

Logan Ryan, 49ers Defensive Back

The veteran joined the 49ers on Dec. 5, 2023, after not playing in the 2023 season. The Patriots drafted Logan Ryan in the third round (No. 83 overall) in the 2013 NFL Draft. He played his first four seasons in New England. He appeared in all 74 Patriots games, including playoffs.

After winning his second Super Bowl ring with New England in 2016, Ryan signed with the Tennessee Titans in free agency. He is best-remembered post-Patriots for a pick-six in the 2019 NFL Playoffs. It was Tom Brady‘s final pass attempt as a member of the New England Patriots.

Joe Thuney, Chiefs Offensive Guard

Unfortunately, the All-Pro guard will not be participating in Super Bowl 58. Thuney suffered a pectoral injury at the end of the Chiefs playoff game against the Buffalo Bills. He did not play in the AFC Championship and was ruled out for Sunday.

Joe Thuney was selected in the third round (No. 78 overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft. He won two Super Bowls with the Patriots before signing with Kansas City in 2021. Thuney has since added a third ring with the Chiefs. He has been a Pro Bowl selection each of the past two seasons.
