The New England Patriots practice participation report for Wednesday included twelve names. Five players did not participate at all, and six Patriots players were limited with various injuries. The one piece of good news for New England was Alex Austin’s full participation in practice, signaling a possible return to the active roster this week.

Austin was ruled out with an ankle injury for Week 4 and later placed on injured reserve. The Patriots designated him for return on Oct. 30, which started the clock on his 21-day window to return. If Austin is not activated during that 21-day window, he must spend the remainder of the season on IR. New England still has until next week to decide on activating Austin. However, his full participation in practice indicates they could make a move to activate him before their Week 11 game against the Rams. The Patriots would need to make a corresponding move to make room for Austin on the 53-man roster.

Did Not Participate

Five Patriots did not participate in Wednesday’s practice. CB Isaiah Bolden missed for personal (non-injury) reasons. The other four New England players who sat out practice are all on the defensive side of the ball. CB Marcellas Dial Jr. suffered a head injury against the Bears on Sunday. He is in concussion protocol.

Three others were out injured, though the severity of their injuries is unknown. DE Deatrich Wise Jr. (foot), DT Jaquelin Roy (neck), and LB Sione Takitaki (knee) all sat out. Wise played his best game of 2024 on Sunday, recording two sacks.

Limited Participation

Six Patriots participated on a limited basis in Wednesday’s practice. This group consisted of TE Hunter Henry (foot), OT Vederian Lowe (shoulder), DT Daniel Ekuale (abdomen), LB Christian Elliss (abdomen), S Kyle Dugger (ankle), and S Marte Mapu (neck).

Kyle Dugger participating in practice is a good sign for the safety. Dugger did not practice last week and was ruled out for the game against the Chicago Bears. With Dugger and Jabrill Peppers unavailable, Dell Pettus, Jaylinn Hawkins, Marte Mapu, and Jonathan Jones all saw action at safety for New England.
