The New England Patriots announced one practice squad elevation ahead of their Week 7 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Linebacker Ochaun Mathis received the good news of a promotion to the game-day roster. It marks Mathis’ second elevation of the season. He dressed for New England’s Week 5 game against Miami, playing 11 snaps on special teams.

New England signed Ochaun Mathis to their practice squad on Aug. 30, 2024. Mathis spent last season with the Los Angeles Rams, who drafted him in the sixth round (No. 189 overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft. He played four seasons in college at TCU before transferring to Nebraska for his final season in 2022. He amassed 183 tackles, 35.5 tackles for a loss, and 19.0 sacks over his 50 collegiate games.

Mathis appeared in eight games for the Rams as a rookie, recording two tackles. He suffered a knee injury during training, which caused him to start the season on injured reserve. He played in the Rams three preseason games this year, recording two tackles, two stops, and two quarterback pressures.
