New England Patriots star Christian Barmore has yet to play this season. The defensive tackle received a blood clot diagnosis at the start of training camp. The Patriots placed Barmore on the non-football injury list (NFI) before the start of the season, with a designation to return. But it was not Barmore’s play or health status that made headlines this week. It was his interaction with the Providence (R.I.) Police Department.

The police report states Barmore was pulled over just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday. It states officers were unable to read the registration on his temporary license plate due to a plate cover. It was later determined the registration had expired and Barmore was unable to produce an active registration for the vehicle.

The report accuses Barmore of “slow rolling” after police had turned on their lights for him to pull over. The report indicated, “This tactic is known to police by slowing down an interaction with police to hide any contraband or weapons.”

Police accused Barmore of reaching under the seat after he was pulled over. The police report states they found, “an ash cup along with what appeared to be a blunt rolled with an unknown substance where he was seen reaching under the seat. Under the passenger side seat, we found what appeared to be several tubes filled with marijuana,”

Police towed Barmore’s car from the scene, but not before an interaction in which Barmore repeatedly told police not to touch him. He was not arrested but received citations for operation of an unregistered vehicle, display of plates penalties, and driving with an expired license.

“Racism at It’s Finest”

Christian Barmore posted about the incident on X at 1:22 a.m. Wednesday. This was roughly 20 minutes after the interaction with the Providence PD.

“I just experienced for the first time 5 Providence cops being very unprofessional racism at it’s finest,”

Barmore’s post was since deleted.

TMZ released the video of Barmore’s interaction with the Providence Police Department.

New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo was asked about the situation on Wednesday, but would only comment that he was aware of the situation and had talked to Barmore.

Christian Barmore is the second New England Patriots player to take to social media this season to complain about police. Rookie wide receiver Javon Baker took to Instagram Live after receiving a ticket at Boston’s Logan Airport. The Patriots are also dealing with the recent arrest of Jabrill Peppers. The starting safety and team captain was charged with multiple counts, including strangulation, assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a Class B substance. Peppers is currently on the NFL Commissioner’s Exempt List indefinitely.

There is no word on any punishment from the NFL or the New England Patriots for Christian Barmore to date.
