Rhamondre Stevenson has played his last snap of the 2023 NFL season. The New England Patriots placed the running back on the reserve/injured list, putting an end to his year. Stevenson had not played since injuring his ankle on Dec. 3 in a game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Stevenson finishes the season with 619 rushing yards on 156 carries (4.0 yards/carry). He rushed for four touchdowns. Stevenson also caught 38 passes for 238 yards. His 64-yard touchdown run against Washington was New England’s longest offensive play of the season.

The overall production was a drop-off from his breakout 2022 season, when Stevenson rushed for 1,040 yards, added 421 receiving yards, and had six total touchdowns. However, Stevenson was playing his best football of 2023 prior to his injury. He achieved his season high for rushing yards in a game for three consecutive games prior to playing the Chargers. He had amassed 87, 88, and 98 yards in the three games before his injury. He had run for 39 yards in one pre-injury quarter against Los Angeles.

Ezekiel Elliott took over the featured back role in Stevenson’s absence. Kevin Harris and JaMycal Hasty are currently backing up the veteran for New England.

Rhamondre Stevenson becomes the fourteenth New England Patriots player currently on IR.
