Week 9 NFL Power Rankings: Chiefs and Lions Keep Winning

The two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs held the top spot in the Week 8 NFL Power Rankings. They began the season there and remained there after starting 6-0. The Detroit Lions took over the No. 2 spot after beating the previously unbeaten Minnesota Vikings in Week 6. The Chiefs and Lions remain 102 heading into Week 9 and could be on a collision course to meet in Super Bowl 59.

Kansas City continues to win without looking dominant. However, they do keep winning. The end result is easy the most important factor here, and the defending champs are the lone undefeated team through Week 8. Can anyone stop them from going wire-to-wire atop the power rankings?

Detroit has been much more dominant. They are the lone NFL team to outscore their opponents by 100 points this season. This includes a 52-14 drubbing of Tennessee in Week 8.

Teams ascending the most this week include the 49ers, Chargers, and Cardinals. Meanwhile, the Ravens, Seahawks, Cowboys, and Buccaneers are headed in the wrong direction after losses.

From last week’s ranking, the top ten teams went 8-2. The ten teams at the bottom of the rankings went 2-8. As a result, there was not a lot of movement this week.
