Patriots Daily: Super Bowl Favorites; Rookie Playoff QB
The NFL Playoffs are down to the final eight teams. But even though all remaining teams still have a chance to win the Super Bowl, not all of these odds are equal. At least not according to Las Vegas. The betting on currently favor the top seeds in each conference, with the San Francisco 49ers the favorites to bring home a sixth Lombardi Trophy.
Current odds to win Super Bowl 58 based on the Caesars Sports Book:
+170 – San Francisco 49ers
+290 – Baltimore Ravens
+500 – Buffalo Bills
+700 – Kansas City Chiefs
+850 – Detroit Lions
+3000 – Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Kansas City was my preseason prediction to win the AFC, but they were supposed to face the Dallas Cowboys in the Super Bowl. The Chiefs and Lions both look like good bets to me, but tough to sleep on anyone at this time of year. We will know in the next few weeks if Vegas knew what they were doing.
Rookie Quarterbacks in the NFL Playoffs
There is still one rookie QB playing, and it is C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans. Stroud won his first NFL Playoff game last weekend, by helping to annihilate the Cleveland Browns. This weekend he has an opportunity to win his second playoff game. Only three quarterbacks in NFL history have ever won multiple playoff starts as a rookie. Stroud is hoping the become the fourth. The previous three are:
2008 – Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens
2009 – Mark Sanchez, New York Jets
2022 – Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
Stroud knocked out Flacco on Super Wildcard Weekend. If the Texans win their first Super Bowl, Brock Purdy might stand in the way as well.

Fun Fact of the Day
New New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo played 111 games in the NFL. But that is not the record for a player from his high school. Mayo attended Kencoughton, in Hampton, Va. He is one of five NFL players to have attended that school. Linebacker Dwight Hollier, who played for the Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts from 1992 to 2000, played in 137 NFL games during his career.
