The New England Patriots will be without starting center Ben Brown against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Brown took over for an injured David Andrews and struggling Nick Leverett in the starting lineup for Week 6. He started the previous ten games for the Patriots. New England listed nine others as questionable for their Week 17 game.

The Patriots signed Brown off the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad. He has been a non-participant in practice this week, sitting out due to a concussion. It is unclear who will get the start at center for New England. Cole Strange and Lecitus Smith are the options on the 53-man roster. Strange has yet to play center in an NFL game, though the third-year left guard has been practicing there.

Although Brown is the only Patriots player listed as out, the team’s injury concerns do not end there. They listed nine players as questionable for the game (50-50 chance of playing) including Cole Strange and recently activated offensive tackle Caedan Wallace.

Other Questionable Patriots

The other seven players listed as questionable are all on the defensive side of the ball. That group consists of LB Curtis Jacobs (concussion), LB Anfernee Jennings (knee), LB Titus Leo (ankle), LB Sione Takitaki (knee), LB Jahlani Tavai (groin), S Kyle Dugger (ankle/quad), and S Jabrill Peppers (hamstring). Peppers missed last week’s game due to his injury. Jacobs remains on injured reserve and would need to be added to the 53-man roster before being able to play.

The New England Patriots (3-12) host the Los Angeles Chargers (9-6) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
