Meet the Newest New England Patriot: Braylon Sanders
The domino effect opened a spot on the New England Patriots practice squad. The team traded Joshua Uche to Kansas City on Monday. New England signed Ochaun Mathis off their practice squad to the 53-man roster to take Uche’s place. This left an opening on the Patriots practice squad, which they filled Tuesday by signing Braylon Sanders.
Sanders signed with the Miami Dolphins after going undrafted in 2022. He spent his first two NFL seasons as a member of the Dolphins practice squad. The Dolphins elevated him for three games as a rookie. Sanders caught two passes for 17 yards in his NFL debut but also lost a fumble. He posted no offensive stats in his other two games and did not see any action in 2023.

Background
Braylon Sanders stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 190 pounds. He played collegiately for the Mississippi Rebels. Sanders caught 68 passes for 1,439 yards and ten touchdowns for Ole Miss. He shared a wide receivers’ room there with future NFL players A.J. Brown, DK Metcalf, Van Jefferson, Elijah Moore, and Jonathan Mingo. Matt Corral, who was with the Patriots briefly in 2023, was the Rebels starting quarterback during Sanders’ final three seasons in college.
There will be some familiar faces in the New England Patriots locker room for Braylon Sanders. Center Ben Brown and practice squad cornerback Miles Battle were both teammates of Braylon Sanders at Mississippi. New England signed the three players over the past month.
