Mike Gesicki spent the 2023 season with the New England Patriots. He played the first five seasons of his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins before that. Now Gesicki is on the move once again. Reports state that the free agent has agreed to a deal with the Cincinnati Bengals for one-year at $3.25 million.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report the deal.

Gesicki was a bit of a disappointment in New England last season. He was brought in as a pass-catching tight end but finished the season with only 29 receptions for 244 yards and two touchdowns. Mike Gesicki had not put up lower numbers in any of those categories since his rookie year in 2018. He did win the 2023 Adam Vinatieri Award (with Mac Jones) for Patriots Play of the Year.

New England still needs to add to their tight end room. Their new offensive staff featured the tight end position prominently in Cleveland. Hunter Henry and La’Michael Pettway are the only Patriots tight ends under contract. Pharaoh Brown and Matt Sokol played for the Patriots last season as well. Both remain on the market as free agents.

Mike Gesicki will have an opportunity to join a Cincinnati Bengals offense that should be dangerous if quarterback Joe Burrow stays healthy. The Bengals re-signed Drew Sample. Their tight ends room also features Tanner Hudson, Mitchell Wilcox, and Irv Smith Jr. Gesicki will have an opportunity to compete for snaps and boost his value once more.
