Tom Brady Breaks Another Record

New England Patriots honor Tom Brady, shown with Patriots owner Robert Kraft, at halftime of their Week 1 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Tom Brady, the greatest football player who ever lived, is managing to still break records in retirement. This time it was a personal record for Brady. The 46-year-old former quarterback attempts to make amends for a haunting memory from 24 years ago. Needless to say, it was a success.

This is the week of the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. Back at the 2000 combine, Brady was a quarterback from Michigan hoping to impress scouts and move up in the draft. He failed to do so. Fortunately for the New England Patriots, Brady was still around in the sixth round. They selected him with pick 199 and the rest is history.

Every year since Brady established himself as one of the NFL’s premier players, footage of his combine performance is shown around this time. It was featured in Episode 1 of the “The Dynasty” docuseries. Even the GOAT seems to have trouble living down some of his more forgettable moments.

Tom Brady decided it was time to redeem himself. He ran the 40 once again, to see if he could improve upon his time of 5.28 from 2000.

The NFL paired up the two videos, showing Tom Brady at 46 edging out Tom Brady at 22. The re-run was unofficially clocked at 5.12 and 5.18. Either way, he has a new personal best.

Aside from a new personal best in the 40, Tom Brady accomplished something else with the video. When people search for Tom Brady 40 from now on, the new and improved version of Brady running comes up first. He says his next goal is to break the 5.00-second barrier. Don’t bet against him!
