Patriots Daily: Five Out for New England; Hayden Hurst’s Health

New England Patriots injury status report for Thursday is out, and so are five Patriots players. Three of these were suspected in advance. WR Demario Douglas (concussion) and RB Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle) were both ruled out for practice all week. OL Riley Reiff (knee) was ruled out as well. Reiff’s season ended when he was not activated from injured reserve this week.
Two other players join them in being ruled out: WR Kayshon Boutte (shoulder) and CB Shaun Wade (illness). In yesterday’s Patriots Daily there was hope that Boutte would be good to go. Seeing whether he can develop into an NFL receiver is one of the more interesting storylines still playing out for the Patriots this season. Unfortunately, he will need to wait until Week 14 to do so.
Shaun Wade had been seeing more time at cornerback. He played 88% of the defensive snaps against the Colts in Germany. This was in part due to J.C. Jackson not making the trip, but Wade played well. On Sunday, Wade left the game due to illness and did not return.
Meanwhile, some scary news regarding Carolina Panthers tight end Hayden Hurst. His father, Jerry Hurst reported on Twitter/X that Hayden Hurst has been diagnosed with post-traumatic amnesia. The sixth-year veteran took a hit against the Bears on Nov. 9, and has been in concussion protocol ever since. A scary injury and situation for Hurst and his family. Here’s hoping for a full recovery.
@haydenrhurst has been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Amnesia by an independent neurologist as a result of the hit he took in Chicago November 9. Slow recovery, don’t know when he’ll be back. Prayers appreciated!
