Week 2 Injury Report: Five Patriots, SIx Seahawks Listed Friday

New England Patriots safety Kyle Dugger

The New England Patriots released their injury status report on Friday for their Week 2 game against the Seattle Seahawks. In total, there were only five players listed. OG Sidy Sown (ankle) was ruled out for the second consecutive week. The four “questionable” designations went to RB JaMycal Hasty (knee), OG Layden Robinson (shoulder), DE Deatrich Wise Jr. (shoulder), and DB Kyle Dugger (ankle).

Sow remaining unavailable does not come as a surprise. He injured his ankle in the preseason finale against the Washington Commanders and has not participated in practice since. When Sow missed Week 1 in Cincinnati, New England elevated Michael Jordan from the practice squad. Jordan played the entire game, holding his own. He received an unfavorable grade from Pro Football Focus (48.9), largely based on a poor run-blocking grade. He allowed just two quarterback hurries in the game.

New England Patriots Questionable Players

Kyle Dugger swaps spots with his safety partner Jabrill Peppers. New England listed Peppers as questionable for the opener but he was active for the game. New England hopes Dugger follows suit this week. He was added to the practice participation report on Thursday as being limited with an ankle injury. If he is unable to go, Jaylinn Hawkins and Dell Pettus will find themselves in larger roles on defense. Dugger would be a big loss for the Patriots defense. He made the play of the game in Week 1, forcing a fumble on a near-touchdown for the Bengals.

New England added JaMycal Hasty and Layden Robinson to the practice participation report on Thursday. Hasty sits behind Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson on the depth chart at running back. The Patriots might elevate Kevin Harris if Hasty appears unable to go on Sunday.

Robinson’s injury could leave the Patriots short-handed on Sunday. With Sow already out (likely replaced by Jordan) either Nick Leverett or Zach Thomas would likely get the nod at right guard for New England. It is also possible they’d slide RT Mike Onwenu over to guard and have Chukwuma Okorafor start at right tackle. A lot of uncertainty on the line of Robinson is unable to go.

Deatrich Wise Jr. landed on the injury report as well, listed as questionable. He was on the injury report with a shoulder injury several times last season, though he only missed one game.

Seattle Seahawks Injury Report

Seattle ruled out former New England Patriots TE Pharaoh Brown (foot) and DE Uchenna Nwosu (knee).

The Seahawks had two offensive starters listed as doubtful. RB Kenneth Walker III (oblique) and OT George Fant (knee). Walker missed two games in 2023 with an oblique injury. He rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown in Seattle’s Week 1 win. Backup Zach Charbonnet would get the start for the Seahawks if Walker cannot go.

Seattle listed linebackers Jerome Baker (hamstring) and Tyrel Dodson (shoulder) as probable

The New England Patriots host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at 1 pm.
