Pittsburgh rebuilt its QB room, signing Super Bowl-winning veteran Russell Wilson to a one-year deal. They traded a conditional sixth-round draft pick to the Chicago Bears for Justin Fields.

Wilson is three years removed from his last productive season, and Fields has yet to deliver on his first-round pedigree.

The back half of the Steelers schedule features six division games, but the first five aren’t a walk in the park. They open on the road against a dangerous Atlanta Falcons offense. 

Week 2 is a trip to Denver, Wilson’s former team. Broncos HC Sean Payton will pull out all the stops to beat Wilson and the Steelers. 

The Steelers then play a Jim Harbaugh-led LA Chargers team at home, a road game against a good Colts team, and then a home game versus the always deadly regular season Dallas Cowboys. 

The 2023 Steelers were a seven-win team that got lucky with opponent injuries. They haven’t improved enough at the most crucial position to repeat a ten-win season. Starting the season 1-4 looks far more likely than 4-1. 

Philadelphia Eagles 4 Wins +600

The 2023 Eagles faded into oblivion after starting the season 10-1. They finished the season 11-6 and lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 32-9 in the Wildcard round. 

Facing immense pressure, HC Nick Sirianni replaced his offensive and defensive coordinators. Now, OC Kellen Moore and DC Vic Fangio are tasked with righting the wrongs of 2023.

The Eagles also bolstered their running game, signing star RB Saquon Barkley. They hope to reestablish a running attack that ranked fifth in yards per game during the 2022 season.

Philadelphia opens the season at home against Jordan Love and a resurgent Packers squad. They then host a new-look Atlanta Falcons team in Week 2.

They then hit the road with winnable away games versus the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A home game against a very good Cleveland Browns caps the first five games.

The Eagles are as talented and deep as any team in the NFL. QB Jalen Hurts is a bonafide stud despite an average 2023 season. A renewed dedication to the running game will help take the pressure off Hurts, who attempted 78 more passes in 2023.
