New England Patriots CEO Robert Kraft was a guest on The Shop, discussing many topics with a panel of guests. Among these were the decision to hire Jerod Mayo as head coach and allowing Jakobi Meyers to leave in free agency. Other guests included Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams, Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin, and comedian/actress Tiffany Haddish.

Kraft explained Mayo’s ability to relate to younger players helped convince him he was right for the job. He said the most important role of a head coach is somebody that all the players can relate to. Kraft did add that the X’s and O’s and tactical parts of game-planning. Adams agreed, pointing to the change in the Raiders locker room after Antonio Pierce took over last season. Adams did say he was a big fan of Josh McDaniels, the coach whose firing paved the way for Pierce to take over.

Davante Adams also discussed playing with former Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. He said he was one of the NFL’s “best-kept secrets” and he learned a lot from watching Meyers. Kraft chimed in by stating, “I shouldn’t have let him go.”

Other topics included Meek Mill, black NFL head coaches, and philanthropic work. To watch the full episode, click here.
