The NFL’s Annual League Meeting is underway in Orlando, Fla. Teams owners, general managers, head coaches, and other top brass from around the league gather with the media and each other. Commissioner Roger Goodell makes a state-of-the-league address. Owners discuss NFL business and vote on rule proposals.

Yesterday the head coaches present at the event took a group photo. For the first time in 25 years, there was a new representative for the New England Patriots. Jerod Mayo made his Annual League Meeting (sometimes referred to as the Owner’s Meeting) debut as New England’s head coach. Mayo posed with all but five of the NFL head coaches in the group photo (he is fourth from the right in the back row).

There was also a photo of general managers taken but the New England Patriots were not represented. Not only does Eliot Wolf (the de facto GM) not officially hold the title, but he is not at the meeting. The reason? He’s working to improve the Patriots roster.

Two rule proposals getting a lot of attention are the banning of “hip-drop tackles” and a revamped kickoff proposal, which is said to increase returns while keeping them (relatively) safe.

There will be updates throughout the meeting on Patriots Football Daily.

Football Fun Fact of the Day

Today is New England Patriots defensive tackle Trysten HIll’s birthday. He turns 26. Hill was one of 72 players to appear in a game for the Patriots in 2023. He was one of only six players to appear in only one game. The others: Joshuah Bledsoe, Malik Cunningham, James Ferentz, Riley Reiff, and Marco Wilson.
