Patriots Football Daily: Kayshon Boutte “Still on the Team”

At yesterday’s media breakfast, Jerod Mayo was asked about many topics. These ranged from free agency, the NFL Draft, and contract extensions, to the New England Patriots adding captain’s patches this season. One subject asked about was the status of Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte.

Boutte turned himself into the police on Jan. 25, 2024, and was arrested on charges of illegal online gambling. He was released on a $6,000 bond from East Baton Rouge Parish Prison in Louisiana later that morning.

“Yeah, we’re continuing to gather information on that. He is still on the team,” responded Mayo. “And hopefully we can continue to develop this player, but really develop him as a man as well going forward. I think it’s important to remember, some of these guys are very young and they’ve made some mistakes in the past. It’s easy to just throw them away. But there are certain instances where you’re like, ‘All right, I can help this guy out’.”

There has been no news of disciplinary actions from the NFL or the team to date. Boutte has not been seen in the offseason videos shared online, which show wide receivers Kendrick Bourne, DeMario Douglas, and Tyquan Thornton working out with quarterback Bailey Zappe.

Kayshon Boutte was active for five games as a rookie in 2023. The sixth-round draft pick from LSU finished the season with two receptions for 19 yards.
