Patriots Sunday: Final Game Before the NFL Trade Deadline

The NFL Trade Deadline is two days away. The clock strikes “midnight” at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Many New England Patriots players have been rumored to be available. Nearly all Patriots players have had their names floated at some point. Aside from Drake Maye, Christian Gonzalez, and Keion White, it is tough to tell who will be in Foxboro on Wednesday.

CBS Sports named three Patriots players in the final year of their contracts who could be moved. Among that group, Joshua Uche has already been traded to Kansas City. Will Austin Hooper and Jonathan Jones follow suit?

“The Athletic” reported that veterans locked up beyond 2024 were discussed by New England in trades. Could Kendrick Bourne or Davon Godchaux have a new home this week?

Patriots Football Now discussed how trading players locked up beyond 2024 would be Eliot Wolf going against what he stated was the “Packer Way” of doing business.

Fortunately, the rumors will all be over by Tuesday. Then, everyone will know who will be staying and who is moving on. People might be able to get a glimpse into the future today, though. Last Sunday, the Patriots listed Joshua Uche as inactive for their game against the New York Jets. The next day, he was a member of the Chiefs. Healthy scratches or players with surprisingly limited reps are solid indications a player is involved in serious trade talks.

The belief here remains that the six most likely New England Patriots to be traded, regardless of other rumors, are WR K.J. Osborn, WR Tyquan Thornton, TE Austin Hooper, DE Deatrich Wise Jr., DL Daniel Ekuale, and CB Jonathan Jones.

The Patriots have a 9-3 record since the franchise relocated from Houston to Tennessee. In the playoffs, the Patriots have a 2-1 advantage. They knocked the Titans out of the playoffs in 2003 and 2017. However, their most recent playoff matchup was the game that ended Tom Brady’s time in New England, capped off by a pick-six from his former teammate Logan Ryan.

The winner of this battle should help determine the winner of the game. There is a little extra at stake after Ridley snubbed New England in free agency.

Patriots Designate Alex Austin for Return From Injured Reserve – Austin began the season on the New England Patriots 53-man roster but an ankle injury forced him to IR. The Patriots designated for return on Wednesday, which gives them 21 days to active him. A roster spot could become available at the deadline, paving the way for Austin’s return.
