Patriots Injury Report: Another Illness on Thursday

The New England Patriots practice report on Thursday had its share of good and bad news. Marcus Jones, who did not participate in Wednesday’s practice due to illness, returned as a limited participant. However, safety Jaylinn Hawkins was forced to sit out on Thursday due to an illness of his own, a day after being a full participant.
Hawkins was the only new addition to the report for New England. However, there were two downgrades in participation from Wednesday. Defensive tackles Jaquelin Roy and Christian Barmore are trending in the wrong direction leading up to Sunday’s game. Roy went from being a limited participant on Wednesday to not participating on Thursday. Roy hasn’t played since Nov. 10, but until this week it was due to a neck injury. The injury report lists Roy as dealing with a foot injury now.
Barmore’s downgrade from full participant to being limited is less concerning. The team continues to be cautious with him since his return from a blood clot. He has not fully participated in practice for consecutive days since rejoining the Patriots but has played in their last three games.

Thursday’s Patriots Practice Participation
Jaquelin Roy (foot) and Jaylinn Hawkins (illness) joined in the “did not participate” category on Thursday by Javon Baker. The rookie wide receiver remains in concussion protocol. It is unclear when or how Baker suffered the injury. He played in Week 13 against the Indianapolis Colts, but the injury was unknown until the Patriots returned from their bye week on Wednesday.
Marcus Jones (illness) and Christian Barmore (non-injury) were two of 11 New England Patriots with limited participation on Thursday. The other nine saw no change in their status from Wednesday. That group consists of OT Vederian Lowe (shoulder), OT Caedan Wallace (ankle), OG Cole Strange (knee), DE Deatrich Wise Jr. (foot), LB Anfernee Jennings (knee), LB Sione Takitaki (knee), CB Christian Gonzalez (shoulder), S Jabrill Peppers (knee), and S Kyle Dugger (ankle).
Caedan Wallace is on injured reserve. If he is to play this Sunday, New England first needs to add him to the 53-man roster. That means also making a corresponding move to make room for him.
The New England Patriots will release their game status report on Friday afternoon. They play the Arizona Cardinals in a road game on Sunday.
