The New England Patriots returned to the practice field on Wednesday. However, two players were absent as the team returned from its bye week. Ten other players had limited participation due to various injuries. Some good news for New England was the full participation of defensive tackle Christian Barmore.

Barmore spent the first ten weeks of the season on the PUP list following a blood clot diagnosis in training camp. He has played in the last three games for New England, amassing six tackles and a sack. The Thursday practice of Week 12 is the only other session Barmore has fully participated in since his return. New England hopes this is a good omen moving forward. How Barmore responds in the coming days will be monitored, as he did not participate the day after his other practice as a full participant.

Not all the news was positive for the Patriots. Wide receiver Javon Baker and cornerback Marcus Jones did not participate in Wednesday’s practice. Baker is in concussion protocol. Jones is battling an illness.

Limited Participants

New England listed ten players as limited participants in Wednesday’s practice. The three offensive players were most notable. Starting left tackle Vederian Lowe continued to be limited with a shoulder injury, which has been the case since Week 9. However, Lowe has not missed any games in that span, despite being a limited participant in practices.

Two other offensive linemen joined Lowe as limited participants. Cole Strange, who was just activated to the 53-man roster, was limited by the knee injury that has kept him out all season. And Caedan Wallace, who has been on injured reserve, returned to practice. This begins the 21-day window for the Patriots to either activate the rookie tackle or lose him for the remainder of 2024. Head coach Jerod Mayo indicated previously there was a chance for a Wallace return this season.

The limited participants on the defense consisted of DE Deatrich Wise Jr. (foot), DT Jaquelin Roy (foot), LB Anfernee Jennings (knee), LB Sione Takitaki (knee), CB Christian Gonzalez (shoulder), S Kyle Dugger (ankle), and S Jabrill Peppers (knee).

The New England Patriots (3-10) play the Arizona Cardinals (6-7) on the road on Sunday at 4:25 pm.
