Jonathan Jones Nominated for Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award
New England Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones is the franchise’s 2024 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award nominee. All 32 NFL teams select one nominee for the honor. The field will be reduced to eight, four from each conference, before a winner is announced.
The award has been given annually since 2014, with Arizona Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald taking home the inaugural honors. New England’s Matthew Slater won the award in 2021. The Carolina Panthers are the only franchise with multiple winners, linebacker Luke Kuechly (2017) and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater (2020).
David Andrews was the Patriots nominee in 2022 and 2023. Jonathan Jones is a nominee for the first time this season. A former New England Patriots player was among the 2024 nominees, with linebacker Kyle Van Noy representing the Baltimore Ravens.

Jonathan Jones
The New England Patriots signed Jones as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2016. His role on the team and in the community has grown over the past nine years. Last season, Jones won the Patriots’ Ron Burton Community Service Award. He was also the team’s nominee for last season’s Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award.
The Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award “is presented each year to an NFL player who demonstrates on the field the qualities of great sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for opponents, and integrity in competition.” NFL players will vote for the winner after a panel reduces the field to eight finalists. Whether or not Jonathan Jones becomes the second New England Patriots player to receive the honor in 2024, he is unquestionably worthy of the nomination.
