The New England Patriots traded Joshua Uche to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2026 sixth-round pick eight days before the trade deadline. It proved to be Eliot Wolf’s only move before the 2024 NFL Trade Deadline. Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline came and went without the Patriots doing anything further on the trade market.

Rumors linked Patriots wide receiver K.J. Osborn as a potential player on the move, but he remained on New England’s roster at the end of the day.

Speculation ran rampant leading up to the trade deadline. Several New England Patriots found their names circulating in rumors, This included Patriots players signed beyond the 2024 season, such as Kyle Dugger, Davon Godchaux, and Kendrick Bourne. The deadline’s passing gives a sense of stability in the locker room, at least through the end of the year.

The most likely New England players to be moved were the ones in the final years of their deals who are scheduled to hit unrestricted free agency in 2025. That group included Patriots veterans Jonathan Jones, Deatrich Wise Jr., Austin Hooper, Daniel Ekuale, and Osborn. Wolf now needs to sign them back for 2025 or watch them walk in free agency for no return.

For better or worse, the New England Patriots will not bring any help for this season via the trade route. Eliot Wolf has yet to make a trade for an NFL player since taking the reigns in the front office after Bill Belichick’s firing following last season. That track record will not change until after the 2024 season.
