Patriots Practice Participation Report: Drake Maye Gets an MRI
The New England Patriots returned to practice on Wednesday. This meant the team also released their first practice participation report of the week. Three Patriots players did not participate in practice, while seven others were limited. However, the name that stuck out to most was a player who was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice, starting quarterback Drake Maye.
Generally speaking, players listed as having full participation are not reported on here. The exceptions are, if the player is returning from an injury, has an upgrade in status, or has suffered a known injury previously. However, the Patriots rookie is worth making an exception for.
New England listed Drake Maye as a full participant on Wednesday with a knee injury. The quarterback was one of five players listed, though the others all missed time due to their injuries: WR Kendrick Bourne (knee), WR KJ Osborn (shoulder), LB Anfernee Jennings (shoulder), and LS Joe Cardona (calf). But Wednesday was the first Maye’s knee injury was known about.

To make matters more concerning for the New England Patriots and their fans, Ben Volin of “The Boston Globe” reported that Drake Maye went for an MRI after practice. On the bright side, Maye was a full participant in practice and early reports are that there is “no serious concern” regarding Maye, but a clearer picture of his condition will emerge on Thursday.
Did Not Participate
The New England Patriots listed RB Rhamondre Stevenson (foot), OT Vederian Lowe (ankle), and CB/PR Marcus Jones (groin/illness) as non-participants on Wednesday. Stevenson and Lowe sat out Week 6 due to their injuries. Both starters were missed in the Patriots lineup.
Limited Participation
Seven players fell under the limited participation designation. That group consisted of OG Michael Jordan (ankle), DT Davon Godchaux (ankle), LB Sione Takitaki (knee), CB Isaiah Bolden (hamstring), CB Marco Wilson (groin), S Kyle Dugger (ankle), and S Marte Mapu (neck).
Jordan started Sunday’s game against Houston but had to depart after injuring his ankle. Sidy Sow replaced him in the lineup.
Drake Maye’s health is the biggest concern for the Patriots, but not the only one. Vederian Lowe and Michael Jordan being unavailable is concerning. It would generate the seventh different starting offensive line in as many weeks. The defense cannot afford further setbacks either. Christian Barmore, Ja’Whaun Bentley, Oshane Ximines, and Jabrill Peppers are all out of the lineup for New England. The Patriots cannot afford to have their depth tested much more.
The New England Patriots have a condensed week of practice. They head to London to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Both teams enter the contest with 1-5 records on the season.
