Patriots Daily: Injury Updates From Sunday; Open Roster Spots
The New England Patriots suffered three injuries in Sunday’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Center David Andrews (shoulder), Kyle Dugger (ankle), and offensive tackle Caedan Wallace (ankle) sustained first-half injuries. None of them returned to the game.
David Andrews discussed his situation on “The Quick Snap Podcast” that he hosts with former Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer. Andrews gave no specifics about his condition but discussed things in more general terms that left things feeling TBD for the captain.
“First of all, it’s frustrating,” said Andrews. “Being hurt is a very frustrating thing, especially when you want to be out there playing. And as a player, sometimes you have to make decisions if you being out there is the best thing for the team sometimes.”
Andrews went on to say, “Just trying to take it day by day right now. See how I feel. See what I can improve, and go from there.”
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported that Kyle Dugger “was gathering information” on his injury. Fowler stated the belief was that Dugger avoided a major injury, but could still miss some time. As with Andrews, losing Dugger would be a significant blow to the Patriots.
#Patriots safety Kyle Dugger is still gathering information on his injured ankle, but the initial belief is he avoided major injury, per source. However, Dugger still could miss some time.

No additional updates have been provided for Caedan Wallace. The rookie had to be carted to the locker room after several players rolled up on him during a failed fourth-down run.

John Jiles Released, Open Roster Spots
The Patriots released wide receiver John Jiles from the practice squad on Tuesday. Jiles was signed last week. He spent preseason with the New York Giants before coming to New England.
New England now has three roster spots available. They have only 52 players on their 53-man roster. And following the release of Giles, the Patriots now have two practice squad spots open as well. Players beginning the season on designated lists (IR, PUP) can begin returning this week. Perhaps this bodes well for the return of some injured New England players. Stay tuned.

The NFL record for most seasons by an undrafted player belongs to former Patriots placekicker Adam Vinatieri (24). The record for most seasons for an undrafted quarterback is 19, shared by Jim Hart and Dave Krieg.
Post of the Day
Today’s post featured New England Patriots legend Tedy Bruschi with some heat for the New York Jets:
Damien Woody on Tom Brady's response to Baker Mayfield: "Get comfortable with being uncomfortable. That's what Tom was referencing. Like bro, if you want to be comfortable and all that type of stuff. Cool…"
Tedy Bruschi: "Go play for the Jets!"

More From Patriots Football Now
Don’t Believe Jacoby Brissett Headlines – The New England Patriots QB responded to a direct question in a radio interview. Despite not complaining, headlines and snippets made it sound like the Brissett was upset. Does he find it disrespectful that people would rather he got hurt than somebody else? Who wouldn’t?
A Disgruntled DeMario Douglas Doesn’t Help the Patriots – The second-year wide receiver sounds unhappy about how 2024 has been going. While it’s understandable he needs to get back to doing what worked in 2023. Keep a positive attitude, work hard, and await his opportunity.
PFF’s Week 4 Best and (Mostly) Worst Patriots Grades – New England managed a few good performances despite the 30-13 loss. Joey Slye, Jabrill Peppers, Christian Gonzalez, and Christian Elliss were among them. The other end of the spectrum had far more names.
Week 5 NFL Power Rankings: Two Undefeated, One Winless – The Kansas City Chiefs have held the No. 1 spot all season, but for the third straight week, there is a new No. 32: the Jacksonville Jaguars. The New England Patriots land at No. 25 but risk a big plummet with a loss on Sunday. Their opponent is the No. 31 Miami Dolphins.
