Former James Madisun University defensive lineman Jamree Kromah has signed with the New England Patriots

The New England Patriots added a new member to their 53-man roster Wednesday. The team signed edge defender Jamree Kromah off the Chicago Bears practice squad. New England had an open spot after placing edge defender Oshane Ximines on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Kromah began his collegiate career with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. He played in 23 games over three seasons for Rutgers, amassing 17 tackles (four solo) and 0.5 sacks. Kromah transferred to James Madison for his final two seasons. His production improved in 2022. He played in ten games and finished the season with 21 tackles and 3.5 sacks.

The 2023 season was a breakout year for Jamree Kromah with the Dukes. After playing mostly defensive tackle during his college career, he split his time in 2023 between defensive tackle and defensive end. This opened up a new aspect of Kromah’s game and he enjoyed a leap in production. Kromah compiled 59 tackles (30 solo), 20.5 tackles for loss, and 10.0 sacks in 13 games. His performance earned Kormah first-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors and an invitation to the East-West Shrine Bowl.

Undrafted Rookie Free Agent

Kromah did not receive an invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine but put up impressive measurables in pre-draft testing. He ran a 4.77 40-yard dash, including a 1.70 10-yard split. Those numbers ranked near the top of the defensive tackles in the 2024 NFL Draft, but it was uncertain if Kromah had the size to project as a defensive tackle in the NFL. He stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 275 pounds.

The Chicago Bears signed Jamree Kromah after he went undrafted in April. He remained with the team through camp before being released during final cuts. Chicago signed him to their practice squad. He now gets an opportunity to make his NFL debut as a member of the New England Patriots.
