Inactives for Patriots-Bengals Game: Good News for New England
The New England Patriots released their inactive list for Sunday’s season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. There is more good news than bad for the Patriots, with no major surprises. New England ruled offensive guard Sidy Sow out earlier in the week. However, the other four players on the injury report are all active for New England.
The Patriots listed RB Antonio Gibson, OT Vederian Lowe, LB Joshua Uche, and S Jabrill Peppers as questionable for the game. None of them are among Sunday’s inactive players. Lowe is perhaps the biggest surprise, as he has been limited in practice, at best, for over two weeks.
Seven players are inactive, though only Sow appears to have received the designation due to injury. The four players claimed off waivers by New England following the cutdown to a 53-man roster are all inactive for the game.
New England Patriots Inactives for Week 1
QB Joe Milton III
WR Javon Baker
OT Demontrey Jacobs
OL Zach Thomas
OG Sidy Sow
DL Eric Johnson II
LB Curtis Jacobs
No major surprises here. New England ruled Sow out already. Thomas, Johnson, and both Demontrey and Curtis Jacobs came over after final cutdowns, so they are still getting comfortable with the Patriots. Milton is QB3 for the Patriots. Javon Baker might be a mild surprise to some. His spot likely came down to him or Kayshon Boutte, with New England opting to keep Boutte active.

The big news out of Cincinnati is not who is on the inactive list, but who is not. Ja’Marr Chase has been listed as questionable for non-football reasons (contract) and then an illness. He is active in the game. The Bengals listed Tee Higgins as doubtful, and he is going to be out. Nothing else stands out on the Cincinnati side as they prepare to host the New England Patriots in Week 1.
