Patriots Daily: Joint Practice With the Eagles; No Fights Allowed
The New England Patriots host the Philadelphia Eagles for a joint practice today in Foxboro. The two teams will play a preseason game on Thursday night. The Patriots had joint practices last season with the Green Bay Packers that erupted into fights on the field. New England head coach Jerod Mayo stated he has already talked to his team about making sure there is none of that this week.
“My message to the players, ‘if you get a fight out here, if you’re a starter you’re going to play the whole preseason game,” said Mayo. “If you’re not a starter, you won’t play at all.”
The two teams sit on opposite ends of the NFL spectrum in many regards. Philadelphia has the fifth-best odds to win the Super Bowl this season. New England has the second-longest odds in the league. The Eagles placed five players in the NFL Top 100, including quarterback Jalen Hurts at No. 15. The Patriots landed nobody on the list.
An increase in competition should give the New England Patriots a better idea of where they currently stand, specifically as it relates to certain roster battles. New England’s offensive line and cornerbacks will be among the units tested most by going against Philadelphia.
New England’s starting offensive line remained consistent for the past week, including the preseason opener:
LT: Vederian Lowe
LG: Sidy Sow
C: David Andrews
RG: Mike Onwenu
RT: Chukwuma Okorafor
Sow and Andrews seem locked into their roles. Okorafor will start either right guard or right tackle. This should be an important week and figuring out how the remainder of the offensive line shapes out. Stay tuned.

Sources: The #Jets were informed before acquiring Haason Reddick that his contract needed to be addressed. They made an offer prior to the trade with Philly, which Reddick turned down.
The team still went ahead with the trade without a deal in place. Reddick attended his press… https://t.co/ejteW6rCbj pic.twitter.com/Q4AvMxUUnd
