Patriots Transactions
Patriots Have Two Open Spots After Kaleb Ford-Dement Released

The New England Patriots made their second transaction since training camp began on Friday. They released rookie cornerback Kaleb Ford-Dement. The Texas State product was attempting to make the roster as an undrafted free agent. Fellow UDFA Jontrey Hunter, a linebacker from Georgia State, was released earlier in the week. New England has not made any roster additions, giving them two open spots on their 90-man roster.
Ford-Dement was well-traveled during his collegiate career. He had stops at Kilgore College, Old Dominion, and Washington State before finishing at Texas State. He stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 190 pounds. Ford-Dement ran a 4.47 in the 40-yard dash at his Pro Day.

The cornerback group in New England is very competitive for roster spots. The unit features Alex Austin, Isaiah Bolden, Marcellas Dial Jr., Christian Gonzalez, Azizi Hearn, Jonathan Jones, Marcus Jones, Mikey Victor, Shaun Wade, and Marco Wilson. Kaleb Ford-Dement faced an uphill battle to stick with the squad, though a practice squad spot seemed possible.
Despite parting ways with both Jontrey Hunter and Kaleb Ford-Dement, the New England Patriots still have 12 undrafted free agents in training camp vying for spots on the 53-man roster. Now the question becomes, how will the Patriots opt to fill those two empty roster spots? Stay tuned.
