2024 NFL Passing Yards Leader and Promos

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is the +650 favorite to lead the NFL in passing yards this season.
Is Mahomes a deserving favorite? Which QBs have the golden arm?
Here’s a look at three great bets for the 2024 NFL passing yards leader.

Jared Goff +1100
Last season, Goff threw for 4,575 yards, good for second in the league. That total put him ahead of the consensus elite QBs like Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.
Goff is set up well in 2024. The Lions have weapons at WR like Amon-Ra St. Brown, who tallied 1,515 receiving yards with a hefty 668 coming after the catch.
An important note in the Goff handicap is the Lions’ playing conditions. Detroit plays 14 of its first 15 games indoors. Artificial turf and a lack of inclement weather should balloon Goff’s passing totals.
Kirk Cousins +2100
Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons are the perfect paper marriage. The veteran QB, fifth in all-time completion percentage, is now in an offensive system run by Zac Robinson, the former LA Rams QB coach.
Catching Cousins’ passes are WR Drake London and Darnell Mooney. London is a clear WR1 who managed 69 receptions and 905 receiving yards in 2023, catching passes from Desmond Ridder.
If TE Kyle Pitts can stay healthy and return to his 2021 form, the Falcons have one of the deadliest passing attacks in the league.
Captain Kirk and company also play in a weak NFC South. The New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers ranked in the bottom half of NFL passing defenses in 2023.
Barring significant injury, Cousins should easily pass the 4,000-yard mark in 2024, putting him in the conversation for league leader.
Brock Purdy +1600
Why not Brock Purdy?
In 2023, the former last overall draft pick ranked fifth in passing yards with 4,280. Mr. Irrelevant also led a team with incredible talent at the offensive skill positions to the Super Bowl, where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Niners have the weapons.
WR Deebo Samuel remains one of the NFL’s most dynamic receivers. Samuel gained 524 YAC in 2023. Brandon Aiyuk (who I believe will play for the 49ers in 2024) gained 1,342 receiving yards in 2023, seventh among all NFL receivers.
The steady-handed TE George Kittle led all tight ends in 2023 with 1,020 yards, emerging as one of Purdy’s favorite targets. Rounding out the passing attack is RB Christian McCaffrey, who caught 67 passes for 564 yards in 2023 (he also led the NFL in rushing yards).
Discounting Purdy’s early career success because of the talent surrounding him is too easy. 2024 is only Brock’s second full season. I expect another step forward.
The 2024 NFL Passing Yards Leader
The NFL is a QB-driven league, and teams are willing to pay a premium for one. The Jacksonville Jaguars gave Trevor Lawrence a contract worth $275 million despite only making the playoffs once in his three-year career.
While Mahomes is the consensus favorite for 2024 NFL Passing yards leader, +500 is far too short to bet. Goff, Cousins, and Purdy have far greater value, and all three bets should be live during the final weeks of the 2024 season.
