Patriots Football Daily: First Practice, New Numbers, New Logo

New England Patriots Inactive Report for Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Deshaun Fenwick

The New England Patriots kicked off their rookie minicamp yesterday. Unlike previous years where rookies received numbers in the 50’s and 60’s, this year players received their actual NFL jersey numbers immediately. Only first-round pick Drake Maye is wearing his college number in the NFL (No. 10) so there could still be some changes with this group before the season begins.

For now, the players have received:

QB Drake Maye – No. 10
WR Ja’Lynn Polk – No. 1
OT Caeden Wallace – No. 70
OL Layden Robinson – No. 63
WR Javon Baker – No. 6
CB Marcelas Dial Jr. – No. 27
QB Joe Milton III – No. 19
TE Jaheim Bell – No. 88

New Patriots Alternate Logo

As seen in the post above from the New England Patriots official X account, the franchise has added an “alternate logo” this season. It does not appear this will be used as part of the uniform but will be used in marketing, and on merchandise. There has been a mixed reaction to the logo on social media. Generally speaking, since there are immediate plans to use it as part of the uniform it is not a big deal. This is a “soft rollout” of sorts, where the team can see how it is received, how merchandise sells, and whether it should be incorporated more or less in the future.
