Patriots Football Daily: Former Patriots on the Market

Yesterday in Patriots Football Daily we looked at the remaining free agents who finished the 2023 season with the New England Patriots. Of the 13 players listed, only one signed on Wednesday. Linebacker Anfernee Jennings reaffirmed his commitment to New England, agreeing to a three-year deal to remain a Patriot.

Today a look at the former New England Patriots (not including those who ended last season with the team) on the open market. The list includes one of the stars of Episode 8 of “The Dynasty” series on Apple TV.

Quarterback –  Jimmy Garoppolo (Raiders)

Running Backs – Cordarelle Patterson (Falcons), Damian Harris (Bills), Brandon Bolden (Raiders), Patrick Taylor (Packers)

Wide Receivers – Braxton Berrios (Dolphins), Lynn Bowden Jr. (Saints)

Offensive Line – Cam Fleming (Broncos)

Defensive Line – Adam Butler (Raiders)

Edge Defenders – Kyle Van Noy (Ravens)

Cornerbacks – Stephon Gilmore (Cowboys), Justin Bethel (Dolphins)

Safeties – Duron Harmon (Browns), Logan Ryan (49ers)

Football Fun Fact of the Day

Today former New England Patriots linebacker Don Blackmon (1981-1987). He had two sacks in the 1985 AFC Divisional Round win over the Raiders, which sent them to Miami to “Squish the Fish.” Blackmon in 1982 recorded at least two sacks, interceptions, and fumble recoveries.

Ten players in Patriots history are in the 3 x 2 Club. The other members are Ed Philpott, Rickie Harris, Roland James, Johnny Rembert, Lawyer Milloy, Otis Smith, Rob Ninkovich, Vince Wilfork, and Jamie Collins.

Rob Ninkovich is the only Patriots player to accomplish it twice (2010, 2011).
