New England Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte

New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte was arrested earlier today on charges of illegal online gambling. WAFB in Baton Rouge La. was the first to report.

According to their report, Boutte is being accused of setting up an online gambling profile under a fake name. The bets were illegal because Kayshon Boutte was still under 21 when the bets took place. Twenty-one is the legal age for placing such bets.

WAFB states that Boutte turned himself in on two counts. The first, computer fraud, is a felony. He was also charged with gaming prohibited for persons under 21, a misdemeanor. He was released on $6,000 bond from East Baton Rouge Parish Prison in Louisiana.

The former LSU Tiger is said to have made nearly 9,000 bets. According to the arrest warrant, this includes at least two bets on an LSU game that he played in. He deposited more than $132,000 into the account and won over $556,000.

Kayshon Boutte turned 21 on May 7, 2023. He would have been legal gambling age during the entirety of his rookie year with the Patriots last season. He appeared in only five games for New England, recording two receptions for 19 yards. With the story just coming out, it is unclear if there will be any supplemental discipline from either the New England Patriots or the NFL at this time.
