Two Out, Four Others Questionable for New England

New England Patriots injury report for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys is taking shape. Unfortunately for the Patriots there is cause for concern along the offensive line, defensive line, and at cornerback once again.
Two Patriots players have been downgraded to out on Sunday: OG Cole Strange and CB Jonathan Jones.

Cole Strange re-aggravated a knee injury last weekend. The injury was originally suffered in training camp and kept Strange out for the season opener. He has played in the past two games but went from 100% of offensive snaps against the Dolphins to only 61% against the Jets.
Sidy Sow played in every offensive snap of the opening game against Philadelphia at right guard. He has not played since. Sow was placed in concussion protocol following the game. Sow was a limited participant in practice this week. He has been cleared from concussion protocol.
Atonio Mafi and/or Sow are expected to replace Strange in the lineup.
Starting cornerback Jonathan Jones has also been downgraded to out. Jones has not played since the season opener after suffering an ankle injury. DB Shaun Wade (shoulder) joins Jones on this week’s report, but is listed as questionable. With Jonathan Jones now out, Jack Jones on IR and Marcus Jones out for the season, the New England Patriots cannot afford further health issues with their cornerbacks. Practice squad cornerbacks William Hooper, Breon Borders and Azizi Hearn are all candidates for promotion.
Defensive linemen Christian Barmore (knee) and Davon Godchaux (ankle) round out the injury report for the New England Patriots. Both players are listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. Defensive line depth has become thinner with the loss of Daniel Ekuale. With the Dallas Cowboys solid ground game, it is important that these run stuffers can play. If they are unable to go, added responsibilities will fall on Lawrence Guy, Deatrich Wise and Sam Roberts. Practice squad player Jeremiah Pharms in also a candidate for promotion.
